From Singapore, Malaysia is already very near that you can travel by bus, by train or by air. In my case, I opted to take the bus (StarMart Express) which departs from the Golden Mile Complex and stops exactly right in front of Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur City Center. From the complex, it would take 5 to 6 hours to reach the square.

Berjaya has food court on the lower ground floor called “Taste of Asia”. Before you buy anything, get your EZ-Link like card at the cashier right at the entrance of the food court. Your card must be preloaded with enough balance to buy something from the different stalls or tenants inside. They will not accept any cash for the food you want to eat. No card, no food in this part of the Berjaya Times Square. If you have a change, you’ll need to go back to the cashier and exchange your card for your change. By the way, this is a WiFi free area. Ask your password from the cashier when you get a card.

Batu Caves is a limestone hill that is located north of Kuala Lumpur. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India. Tourists are flocking to see this Hindu religious site yearly. From the foot of the hill, one needs to climb 272 steps to reach the mouth of the cave. It is a good physical workout. Keep your personal belongings safe as clever monkeys linger on the steps. They might grab your thing and gone forever.

The caves can be easily reached via a Komuter train from KL Sentral to BatuCaves station.

Petronas Twin Tower – known as Menara Petronas or Menara Berkembar Petronas in Malay, are twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur. It is the city’s landmark. It has a skybridge to serve as a viewing deck to a panoramic Kuala Lumpur. Currently, Petronas Tower is world’s tallest twin tower. By the way, going up the skybridge is not free.

Suria KLCC is a high-end shopping mall below the tower. There’s a food court here at the upper floor and food is relatively cheap.

KLCC Park – is a 6.9 hectares park just outside Suria KLCC with jogging and walking paths. It also features a fountain with incorporated music and light show, pools, and a children’s playground.

The Central Market offers a lot of souvenir items from Kuala Lumpur.

A side trip to Johor, Malaysia, can lead you to various tourism destinations including the recently opened “Legoland Malaysia”. But unfortunately, I have not been there. I only went to “Johor Zoo”, yeah sounds boring, but my Johor trip happened when Legoland is still a construction in progress.
